Welcome to Ireland , the land of a thousand eh emmm gummy smiles?

What our future holds for us all very soon, as soon it wont be elderly men or women we see with a lovely toothless smile, it will be people of all ages, today in the papers I see an article were dentist are informed to pull rather than treat any one who holds a medical card teeth. full information will be released and changes are to take place from April 1st. who would have thought in 20 10 we would be slipping back to the 1950's practices of pulling teeth now when we have the tools and knowledge to save teeth.

I'm aghast to say the least mostly as I know I need a filling or two but at 80 euro a go, its the bottom of the pile on my list of priorities .

I guess I should not be surprised that it would be a cut that's favoured rather than new thinking a new scheme or may be some way of making dental care more affordable for every one.

So no thinking out side the box for the government or the HSE ....

This the day after the long awaited reshuffle, or as a very good friend called it musical chairs http://networkedblogs.com/p30118794http://irish-mammy.blogspot.com. very apt and exactly what it was. now lets look at the cost of this, new letter heads for each new position not to mention the name changes IE Department of Social Welfare/Family/Affairs and now "Protection" it will certainly run up a nice little bill .

all I can see from the reshuffle was jobs for the boys or woman for the greens, rewards for incompetence and bad performance.. any one for a bloody Mary.... well as far as some FF backbenchers are concerned a certain Mary will have the teachers up in arms and there will be war. I just hope Batt O 'Keefe can do a better job at getting Ireland working again. although I wont hold my breath.
Then Mary Hanafin a thorn in the side of many , she preformed well in ripping the hearts from parents and those suffering the recession by allowing cuts on her watch. but she did as she was told and is probably more competent than many in office. I may not like her and completely disagree with her approach and treatment of people. yet I was shocked to see her moved and now she will be the minister of Fun.. I hear rippling on line and in the papers , she was seen as a threat. I wonder was it her personality that won her, her new role.

Then Anglo Bank need I say no more, ''a pay rise'', are they having a laugh ( sorry that the dub coming out in me) great way to spend some of the taxpayers money, as that exactly what it is. Will we see our government stepping in and telling them ''no'', under no circumstances can you hand out pay rises on till you can begin to pay back what you owe the state, I'm afraid not, instead we get its a specialist job bla bla bal ,not like Obama http://money.cnn.com/2010/01/14/news/economy/bailout_tax/index.htm. when the bailed out banks paid them self's bonus a he came down heavy, now why cant we have leaders like that..... sadly not one in sight ....

All this we have to stomach, when our country is bleeding and hurting from greed and incompetence. people ordinary people are suffering every were. but were is the anger I'm not talking about the same faces marching or complaining. were is our Irish frightening spirit gone. why are we allowing this to happen.

on that note I'm ending .... on the new

Dentistry in Ireland is already a joke, what worries me is that they say this will push treatment back to the 1940s! I got alot of work done when I worked in France - guess what the government reimburse you if you are working there! A thousand gummy smiles indeed, what is so short sighted is that tooth decay affects your overall well being and can affect fertility and give you blood infections if not treated properly. The HSE will end up with more costs, less people working and people with low self esteem. Thanks for the plug for my blog btw X

Fab picture! A nation of bad teeth - that is soo not going to impress the American multinationals that the Govt wants to attract. It is such a backward move - my Nan's 21st birthday present was to get all her teeth removed so she wouldn't ever be bothered with them again - do we want to go back to that?
